Hear from our members, student advisors, and staff about their experience with Northwest Community Credit Union at SXU.

Erin Lyons, SXU Alumni 17’

“Prior to attending Saint Xavier University, I had never even heard of a credit union let alone all of the great financial benefits they offer through their memberships. Setting up an account was hassle free and the wonderful representatives at the NWCCU made this process extremely easy for me. Since becoming a member of the NWCCU, I already feel as if I am becoming more financially aware which will benefit me long after graduation!”

Nicole Clancy, SXU Alumni 17’

“Such a fantastic student-run organization! I was so impressed with the services offered and the professionalism of everyone involved. In my opinion, this is the top organization at SXU in terms of participation within the school and outside of it. Any student, staff member and alumni can feel welcome when entering their establishment. I am about to graduate so I am looking forward to seeing how they can help me as a graduate of SXU!”

Student Advisory Board Members

David Settanni, Recent SXU Graduate 17’ and Advisory Board Member

"The time I have spent as part of the Student Advisory Board has been invaluable. It has granted me the opportunity to gain real-world business experience by challenging me to think creatively. I have enjoyed collaborating with my fellow board members over the last year and a half in order to provide the best possible service that we can in order to fulfill the needs of the SXU community.”

Ron Luce, Recent SXU Graduate 17’ and Advisory Board Member

“My time spent on the Student Advisory Board for NWCCU at SXU has been an extraordinary experience. It is rewarding to know that I was able to be a part of something now rooted in the curriculum, culture and practice of students, faculty and staff at SXU. I learned a lot from this experience and reaffirmed a lot of ideas I had about credit unions. My grandfather was very involved with credit unions at Johnson & Johnson when he was employed there, as well as Numark Credit Union when J&J’s credit union was absorbed by them. It is safe to say that I knew I would be involved with this process from the start when I was approached by Dean Sabbaghi of the Graham School of Management. Not only have I learned a lot, but I have also met some incredible people and they have all been a pleasure to work with. NWCCU at SXU is a high class organization. Since the credit union is student run, and our NWCCU’s own Jose Garcia is a proud alum, we know that all who want to learn about the credit union or join as a member will have the best experience you could possibly have. Our services and our people are designed and prepared to meet the needs and goals of all in the Saint Xavier University community.”

Nick Mancari, Director, Undergraduate Programs/Project Manager at SXU

“As a colleague of the NWCCU at SXU and a new member, I must say my overall experience from day one has been exceptional. Working with the NWCCU at SXU Team has been very exciting throughout time. Their efforts to innovate products and become convenient to its members is something we do not always see with companies. The service and offerings that I get from NWCCU at SXU is unlike any other financial institution. The NWCCU at SXU has been great whether it was signing up to become a member or to simply stop by and learn about different products offered. I plan to explore additional products and services the NWCCU at SXU has to offer as I begin to plan financially for the future!’

Previous Student Employees

Joseph Sullivan, Previous Student Employee and Saint Xavier Graduate 17’

“I first joined Northwest Community Credit Union at SXU when I was offered an internship position as the Student Director of Reporting and Operations. Initially, I expected to learn more about credit unions and how they operate, but I what I learned instead was much more substantial. Through working and banking with NWCCU at SXU, I was able to become educated on financial literacy, credit union operations, and the Do’s/Don’ts of finances. I was able to hone in on the ability to market and advertise in ways I never before thought possible such as speaking in front of a room full of people or engaging students around campus to spread awareness for financial literacy. The communication skills gained that are necessary to effectively collaborate with co-workers will forever be an asset in my future endeavors. I truly would not feel as adequately prepared for my financial future had it not been for NWCCU at SXU and their ever-helpful staff!”
